Exchange 2010 Public Folder, Mail activated, Permissions needed

by butsch 12. December 2011 15:29

If you generate a new Public Folder and Mail activate it the user "Anonymous" or "Anonym" does automatically get the permission "Create Objects". This is needed so an external incoming E-Mail can read the Mail enabled Public Folder. If you MOVE or MIGRATE and Change a lot of permissions this may be the reason for an error.

Log files Error in:

\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\TransportRoles\Logs\MessageTracking

554 5.2.0 STOREDRV.Deliver.Exception:AccessDeniedException.MapiExceptionNotAuthorized

STOREDRIVER,FAIL,4687

These are the default permissions if you create a Mail

Enabled Public Folder in 2010

There is a second source for this problem  when you do a 2003 to 2010 Migration and the 2003 are de-installed (Decomission the DC/Exchange) BUT the objects you may have to remove with ADISEDIT are still there. This is rather complex and we advise to be careful while deleting Objects even when they are empty.
