Mcafee EPO Server 4.5 Upgrade to 4.6 mit SQL Express 2005 SP2 to SP4

Here are some hints to Upgrade an EPO 4.5 to 4.6 running on Windows Server 2003R2 with Existing SQL Express 2005 Before SP3

 

1) Backup your Mcafee EPO Server with Acronis or Imaging tool. It once has failed at a ratio of 1 of 10 servers so do it!

2) Backup/DUMP your EPO SQL DB with “SQL Management Studio” or commandline OSQL.EXE

3) Download SQL Express 2005 SP4 if you have SQL Express 2005 SP2 (Yes You CAN Update SQL Express from SP2 to SP4 inplace)

4) Download Mcafee EPO 4.5 PATCH 4 Version (350MB) and upgrade to that version (You have to do this step before 4.6)

5) Install SQL Server 2005 Express SP4 TWO Times. Unselect “Hide Advanced Options” to make sure you the two INSTANCES

a (SQL**Express)

b) (SQL EPOSERVER)

Run the setup.exe from SQL Express 2005 SP4 two times (Once per Instance and select the instance)

6) Install EPO Server 4.6 with setup.exe (Depending on the site of the SQL DB and speed we had 1-4 hours). Do not break it don’t cancel!

7) Apply the GS7 Fix even if you don’t have any Groupshield for STUPID Domino Server! Yes i HATE Notes!

When your the Logon screen after the upgrade you get an error: Error creating bean with name “GSD7REPORTS.type.registration

3) Got to Product Downloads

4) Select Groushield 7 for Dominio

5) Select Patches

 It ain’t complicated enough. You have to dig into the crap structure to find that FIX. Why don’t they post it UNDER Patches for EPO 4.6 Downloads?

 6) UNZIP the File GSD7HF547350.zip

7) Logon to EPO as Admin

8) From the ePolicy Orchestrator menu, click
    “Menu” | “Software” | “Extensions” | “Install Extension”.

9) Browse for the file “GSD7REPORTS.ZIP” saved
    in the temporary location, then click OK. The
    “Install Extension” page appears.
